Accelerated Reading (AR)
STAR TESTING
The Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading programs are both used throughout the year. We will test monthly on STAR. This will give us an indicator of what a student's reading comprehension and reading level is. This STAR test will also factor in, along with MAP scores, Acuity, and grades, to determine if a student will need to be placed in RTI, or additional reading help. This test is a 34-37 question, multiple choice test, that is taken on the computer. It consists of vocabulary and reading passages, and focuses on reading comprehension.
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program will also be used. Students will be required to take an AR test on every book that they read and score 85% or above. The AR program will also help us with RTI, and determine what areas a student needs help in.
